On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the LEGO® exhibition Bricks of Wonder® at Westfield Mall of the Netherlands had some very distinguished visitors! Prince Laurent and Prince Nicolas of Belgium came together to admire the exhibition, where they were face to face with more than 150 impressive LEGO® artworks by Belgian artist and master builder Dirk Denoyelle.
Royal Creations in LEGO®
Prince Laurent and his son Prince Nicolas were warmly welcomed by Dirk Denoyelle and Daniëlle van den Beemd, the director of the exhibition. Remarkably, both princes saw their own LEGO® creations on display in the exhibition. Years ago, Dirk and Prince Laurent collaborated on a mosaic, which is now proudly exhibited. Prince Nicolas also created his own artwork, which was given a special place in the exhibition for this occasion.
“It was a big surprise to see my portrait here. I have the same portrait hanging in our house, which our son Nicolas made. Dirk Denoyelle has done something very positive with this exhibition. He has ensured that LEGO® is considered art. And that is very important. I hope that many people will come visit Bricks of Wonder to experience LEGO® art,” said Prince Laurent.
Mayor Visits
In addition to the royal visit, Bricks of Wonder® was also visited by Martijn Vroom, the mayor of Leidschendam-Voorburg. Dirk Denoyelle personally guided him through the exhibition and explained the various artworks.
“It’s wonderful to see these artworks. You can hardly believe your eyes when you see what’s possible with LEGO. I would really encourage everyone to come and take a look,” said Mayor Vroom.

Op donderdag 3 juli 2025 kreeg de LEGO® tentoonstelling Bricks of Wonder® in Westfield Mall of the Netherlands bijzonder hoog bezoek! Prins Laurent en Prins Nicolas van België kwamen samen de expositie bewonderen, waar zij oog in oog stonden met meer dan 150 indrukwekkende LEGO® kunstwerken van de Belgische kunstenaar en meesterbouwer Dirk Denoyelle.
Koninklijke Creaties in LEGO®
Prins Laurent en zijn zoon Prins Nicolas werden warm verwelkomd door Dirk Denoyelle en Daniëlle van den Beemd, directeur van de expositie. Bijzonder was dat beide prinsen hun eigen LEGO® creaties terugzagen in de tentoonstelling. Jaren geleden werkten Dirk en Prins Laurent samen aan een mozaïek, dat nu trots wordt getoond. Ook Prins Nicolas maakte een eigen kunstwerk dat speciaal voor deze gelegenheid een plek heeft gekregen in de expo.
"Het was een grote verrassing om mijn portret hier te mogen zien. Ik heb eenzelfde portret in ons huis hangen, dat heeft onze zoon Nicolas gemaakt. Dirk Denoyelle heeft iets zeer positiefs bij deze tentoonstelling gedaan. Hij heeft ervoor gezorgd dat LEGO® beschouwd wordt als kunst. En dat is heel belangrijk. Ik hoop dat veel mensen Bricks of Wonder komen bezoeken om de LEGO® kunst te ervaren," aldus Prins Laurent.
Burgemeester op Bezoek
Naast het Koninklijk bezoek werd Bricks of Wonder® ook bezocht door Martijn Vroom, de burgemeester van Leidschendam-Voorburg. Dirk Denoyelle leidde hem persoonlijk rond en lichtte de verschillende kunstwerken toe.
"Ontzettend leuk om de kunstwerken te zien. Je kijkt je ogen uit, wat je allemaal wel niet met LEGO kunt maken. Ik zou zeggen, kom vooral een keer een kijkje nemen," aldus burgemeester Vroom.

Bricks of Wonder® is het levenswerk van Dirk Denoyelle, die met meer dan 150 LEGO® kunstwerken en ruim twee miljoen stenen de grootste solo-expositie van LEGO® kunst ter wereld heeft neergezet. De tentoonstelling is tijdelijk te zien in Westfield Mall of the Netherlands, vlak bij Den Haag.
